Blockchain and IoT empowering agrifood: the results of the HALO project

On July 9, 2025, Net Service Group presented the results of the HALO Project – Hazard-Analysis and Anti-Counterfeiting Ledger Oriented Protection at the Palazzo delle Scienze, located at Via Ospedale 72 in Cagliari.

The event was an important opportunity to publicly share the achievements, application areas, and key strengths of the HALO project.

Supported by Sardegna Ricerche as part of Strategy 2 – Economic Identity | Project 2.1 – Research and Technological Innovation of the Regional Development Program 2020–2024, HALO was created to innovate processes in the agri-food sector by integrating Blockchain and IoT technologies, effectively addressing the needs of traceability, food safety, and anti-counterfeiting.

HALO is a digital platform designed to bring transparency, security, and innovation to the agri-food supply chain. It’s a project that combines technology and territory, developed by Flosslab—a Net Service Group company with deep expertise in Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs)—in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Cagliari.

Thanks to the integration of IoT, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, HALO enables monitoring, tracking, and certification of every stage of the food production process. It offers concrete tools to combat counterfeiting and promote quality. Companies can digitalize HACCP processes, monitor the production environment in real time, and guarantee the origin and authenticity of their products to consumers.

This event served as a key occasion to showcase the project’s outcomes, use cases, and the strengths of the HALO platform.

With HALO, Net Service Group reaffirms its commitment to research and innovation, developing practical solutions for a safer, more transparent, and more sustainable agri-food supply chain, while enhancing its technological capabilities in blockchain, distributed ledger technologies, and smart contracts.
