DESCRIPTION: ABATA –Blockchain Applications for Authenticity and Food Traceability is a project aims to develop an information system, based on public access Blockchain, able to trace the production chain and of all the information concerning the origin the agri-food products in a simple, transparent and unassailable manner. The project is realized in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Cagliari, as part of FCS HORIZON 2020 – Intervention by the Fund for sustainable growth in favor of research and development projects in the technological fields of Programma Horizon 2020.

01. BLOCKCHAIN AND IOT SERVING THE AGRI-FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN
Net Service has developed a research and development project in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and IT (DMI) of the University of Cagliari, aims to develop a traceability system for the production chain of agri-food products based on the use of Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
This is ABATA, acronym for Blockchain Applications for Authenticity and Food Traceability, a project divided into 15 objectives that will include the study and development of innovative specifications, both for process and product innovation.
- Process innovation concerns the use of new development methodologies to support the system development (eg the ABCDE for the development of applications based on Blockchain).
- Product innovation concerns the traceability software system developed by the project, which aims at the automation of supply chain data collection in a reliable and safe manner. The objective is also to develop techniques for analyzing recorded usage data and new user interfaces useful to make available and simple the access to the collected data even for people with reduced computer skills.

02. THE SIMPLE AND UNASSAILABLE IT SYSTEM FOR AGRIFOOD
The goal of ABATA is to create an IT system capable to trace, in a simple and unassailable manner, the production chain of agrifood products and to allow the tracing of original products in automatic, effective and controlled way. This IT system will be implemented considering two phases of use: tracking and tracing.
The IT system will be based on a public access Blockchain, within which the elaborations and registrations will take place through Smart Contracts. It will be possible to access via Web Applications and Mobile App. The aim is:
to allow the verification of agrifood supply chains (in terms of integrity, originality, expiration, origin of an asset) through systems easily accessible to consumers and stakeholders.
